I asked all of you when you thought it was acceptable to listen to Christmas music.

Most people said either right before or right after Thanksgiving was an acceptable time to usher in Christmas.

I started on Saturday.

This is my favorite time of year. Basically as soon as Halloween is over, I am ready for the holidays.

Thanksgiving is like a precursor to Christmas.

I get to see my family, eat yummy food, take a few days off work. It’s pretty wonderful.

What do I do on Christmas?

See my family, eat yummy food, take a few days off work.

Love it.

So forgive me if I lump Thanksgiving and Christmas into one glorious holiday.

As I’ve been telling Bacon, if there was Thanksgiving music, I would totally listen to it.

But there isn’t. Christmas it is!

You know what I get to do on Thanksgiving that I don’t get to do on Christmas?

Eat this trifle.

For some reason, pumpkin is not an acceptable Christmas flavor.

But it is celebrated at Thanksgiving! Pumpkin pie, pumpkin roll.

Pumpkin trifle fits right in there too! Because it’s in a Mason jar, it is so easy to transport to your Thanksgiving dinner and it’s cute!

Everyone is going to be amazed at your adorable little dessert.

Go you.

Pumpkin Pie Trifle

Ingredients

  • 2 boxes of your favorite brownie mix plus necessary ingredients
  • 2 4.5 oz. boxes vanilla instant pudding
  • 1 2/3 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup pumpkin pie creamer
  • 1 cup pure pumpkin puree
  • 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 12 1/2 pint Mason jars
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Prepare brownies according to package directions. Set aside to let cool.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine pumpkin puree and milk. Whisk frequently until completely smooth. Set aside to let cool.
  3. In the bowl of a mixer, combine pudding mix, pumpkin pie creamer, pumpkin pie spice, heavy cream, and milk/pumpkin mixture.
  4. Mix until thickened, just shy of pudding consistency.
  5. Put in refrigerator for approximately one hour to let set.
  6. Assembly:
  7. Cut the brownies into circles small enough to fit into the bottom of your jar. {I used a cooking spray lid.}
  8. Spoon pumpkin mousse into a piping bag fitted with your favorite tip.
  9. Place one brownie in the bottom of each jar.
  10. Pipe mousse on top of brownie, enough to cover it.
  11. Cover with mini marshmallows (approx. 8-10)
  12. Place another brownie on top of marshmallows.
  13. Pipe a small amount of mousse on top of brownie and add another 6-8 marshmallows.
  14. Finish with a small swirl of mousse on top.
  15. Enjoy!

Notes

Baking brownies in a 13x9 pan will yield 12 trifles. If you bake brownies in an 8x8 or 9x9 pan, you will yield about 9 trifles.
